Help with moving between neighbours

Carrying four heavy boxes down, getting a sofa up a narrow staircase or taking a wardrobe apart between two people: a small move is done with two more hands. On Mutioo you ask a neighbour in your area for help and meet on the day. It isn’t a removals company, just a hand between neighbours for small moves: from one flat to another in the area or from a storage unit to home.

Examples of this kind of favour

  • Carrying boxes and bags down to the van or the car.
  • Getting a sofa or a washing machine up the stairs between two people.
  • Taking apart and reassembling a wardrobe or a bed.
  • Loading or unloading a storage unit.
  • Taking small pieces of furniture to the recycling point or a nearby storage unit.

How to ask

Say what needs moving, how many floors there are, whether there’s a lift and how many people are needed; a photo of the bulkiest item helps. Each favour closes with a single neighbour: if you need two, post two favours. If the move is at the weekend or first thing in the morning, say so from the start so neighbours can check whether it suits them.

  1. Post the favour

Pick the category, say what you need, where and when, and whether you’re offering money or a favour in return.

  2. Choose your neighbour

Neighbours in your area offer to help. You look at their profile and reviews, talk in the chat and choose.

  3. Done, and then it’s paid

The money waits, held safely, until you confirm the favour is done; if you don’t reply within 7 days, it’s released automatically. If you open an issue, it isn’t released.

What to agree on

  • Exactly what is being moved and what isn’t: nothing fragile or valuable without agreeing it first.
  • Who provides the vehicle, the blankets, the straps or the trolley.
  • Start time, estimated duration and what happens if it runs over.
  • How the furniture and communal areas are looked after, and what to do if something is damaged.

What to offer

A rough example: an hour carrying boxes might come to between €10 and €15, a little more with a lot of weight, stairs or more time. Each neighbour decides what to ask.

This is only a rough example to get the conversation started: each neighbour decides, it’s not a Mutioo rate or a market price, and you two set it. Mutioo Protection is paid by whoever asks: at most 10% of the price (€0.79 on small favours), and less on favours over €25. You see the exact amount before paying. Whoever helps pays no fee: they receive 100% of the price.

Mutioo is an intermediary: it puts neighbours in touch, but it doesn’t do the favours or vouch for anyone’s conduct. The agreement is between whoever asks and whoever helps.

Frequently asked questions

Can I hire a full removals service?

That’s not what Mutioo is for: here a neighbour lends you a hand with one-off tasks. For a big move, with a lorry and packing, a removals company is the right choice.

Does Mutioo provide the van?

No. Mutioo puts neighbours in touch; if you need a car or a van, you agree that between you in the chat.

What if a piece of furniture gets damaged?

Mutioo doesn’t cover damage that may happen during a favour, so agree beforehand how each item will be moved. If something goes wrong, you can open an issue from the favour and the money isn’t handed over while it’s reviewed.

How many neighbours can I ask?

Each favour closes with one neighbour. If you need more hands, you can post several favours.
