Errands with help from a neighbour

Collecting a parcel before the pick-up point closes, returning an order at the post office, taking a few boxes to the recycling centre or picking up the post from your letterbox while you’re away: small errands that cost a neighbour ten minutes and save you an afternoon. On Mutioo you post what you need, where and when, and nearby neighbours offer to help.

Examples of this kind of favour

  • Collecting a parcel from a pick-up point or the post office.
  • Returning an order at the post office or a courier point.
  • Taking boxes, old appliances or batteries to the recycling centre.
  • Picking up the post from your letterbox while you’re away.
  • Dropping a book or a parcel at a nearby relative’s home.

How to ask

Say in the favour what needs collecting or taking, from which point or address, when you need it and how heavy or bulky it is. If collecting a parcel requires a code or an ID, say so in the chat.

  1. Post the favour

Pick the category, say what you need, where and when, and whether you’re offering money or a favour in return.

  2. Choose your neighbour

Neighbours in your area offer to help. You look at their profile and reviews, talk in the chat and choose.

  3. Done, and then it’s paid

The money waits, held safely, until you confirm the favour is done; if you don’t reply within 7 days, it’s released automatically. If you open an issue, it isn’t released.

What to agree on

  • Time and place of delivery, and what to do if you’re not at home.
  • Which code or ID is needed to collect or hand over, and how you get it to the neighbour.
  • What happens if the pick-up point is closed or the parcel hasn’t arrived yet.
  • How heavy or bulky the errand is, so the neighbour can decide whether it suits them.

What to offer

A rough example: a short errand near home might come to between €4 and €8, a little more if there’s a lot of weight, several stops or a long way to go. Each neighbour decides what to ask.

This is only a rough example to get the conversation started: each neighbour decides, it’s not a Mutioo rate or a market price, and you two set it. Mutioo Protection is paid by whoever asks: at most 10% of the price (€0.79 on small favours), and less on favours over €25. You see the exact amount before paying. Whoever helps pays no fee: they receive 100% of the price.

Mutioo is an intermediary: it puts neighbours in touch, but it doesn’t do the favours or vouch for anyone’s conduct. The agreement is between whoever asks and whoever helps.

Frequently asked questions

Can a neighbour collect a parcel for me?

Yes, it’s the kind of favour Mutioo is made for: you describe where it needs collecting, at what time and what’s needed to pick it up, and neighbours in your area offer to help. You choose who.

What do I give the neighbour to collect the parcel?

Whatever the pick-up point asks for: usually a code or an ID. Share it only in the Mutioo chat and only with the neighbour you’ve chosen.

What if I’m not at home when they arrive?

Agree the time beforehand and what to do if you’re out. If the errand involves entering a home or leaving keys, mark the favour as sensitive: only neighbours with a verified identity will be able to offer.

How do I know the errand is done?

When it’s finished, the neighbour adds at least 2 photos or videos as proof and you see them before confirming. The money isn’t handed over until you confirm; if you don’t reply within 7 days, it’s released automatically.
