Help with your phone and computer
Setting up your grandmother’s new phone, working out why the wifi keeps dropping, moving photos from the old phone to the new one or learning to make a video call: many problems with technology are solved with someone patient beside you. On Mutioo you ask a neighbour in your area for that help and meet when it suits you both.
Creating an account is free.
Examples of this kind of favour
- Setting up a new phone or tablet and moving contacts and photos across.
- Installing WhatsApp and email and learning to make video calls.
- Getting the router, a wifi extender or a printer up and running.
- Explaining how to back up a phone or free up space on it.
- Showing someone how to book a medical appointment online or use email.
How to ask
Say which device it is (make and model), what you want to achieve and what you’ve already tried. Say too whether you’d like the neighbour to come to your home or to meet somewhere public. If they need to touch your phone or computer, it should be while you’re there. If it’s for someone else, such as your grandmother, mention their level: someone who has never used a smartphone needs something different from someone who just wants a refresher.
Post the favour
Pick the category, say what you need, where and when, and whether you’re offering money or a favour in return.
Choose your neighbour
Neighbours in your area offer to help. You look at their profile and reviews, talk in the chat and choose.
Done, and then it’s paid
The money waits, held safely, until you confirm the favour is done; if you don’t reply within 7 days, it’s released automatically. If you open an issue, it isn’t released.
What to agree on
- What is going to be done and how long it will take, so it doesn’t drag on by accident.
- That passwords, bank codes and payment details are never shared.
- Where it happens: at your home, at theirs or somewhere public.
- Whether the neighbour can help you again later with another question, and on what terms.
What to offer
A rough example: an hour’s help with a phone or a computer might come to between €10 and €15. Each neighbour decides what to ask.
This is only a rough example to get the conversation started: each neighbour decides, it’s not a Mutioo rate or a market price, and you two set it. Mutioo Protection is paid by whoever asks: at most 10% of the price (€0.79 on small favours), and less on favours over €25. You see the exact amount before paying. Whoever helps pays no fee: they receive 100% of the price.
Mutioo is an intermediary: it puts neighbours in touch, but it doesn’t do the favours or vouch for anyone’s conduct. The agreement is between whoever asks and whoever helps.
Frequently asked questions
Can they fix my computer if it’s broken?
Mutioo is for everyday help (setting up, explaining, teaching) between private individuals, not for professional repairs. If the device is faulty, a repair service is the best option.
Do I have to give my passwords?
No, never. A good helper guides you so that you’re the one typing them, and no help is worth sharing bank codes or payment details.
What if the neighbour can’t solve it?
It can happen. Before choosing, ask them in the chat whether they’ve helped with something similar, and agree what happens if it isn’t sorted.
