Private lessons between neighbours
Revising maths before an exam, practising Spanish or English with someone who speaks it, taking the first steps on the guitar or preparing for a job interview: a lesson between neighbours is an hour of help close to home, with no long journeys. On Mutioo you post what you want to learn and neighbours in your area who know the subject offer to help.

Examples of this kind of favour
- Revising maths, physics or languages before an exam.
- Practising conversation in Spanish, English or another language.
- First steps on the guitar, the piano or another instrument.
- Preparing a presentation or a job interview.
- Learning to sew, crochet or use a spreadsheet.
How to ask
Describe where you’re starting from, your goal (an exam, speaking with confidence, a hobby), how many sessions you have in mind and whether you’d prefer a home, a library or a café. Each favour is one session; if you’d like to repeat it, you agree that in the chat. If you’re looking for someone to practise a language with, say what your level is and whether you’d rather speak only that language or mix it with your own.
Post the favour
Pick the category, say what you need, where and when, and whether you’re offering money or a favour in return.
Choose your neighbour
Neighbours in your area offer to help. You look at their profile and reviews, talk in the chat and choose.
Done, and then it’s paid
The money waits, held safely, until you confirm the favour is done; if you don’t reply within 7 days, it’s released automatically. If you open an issue, it isn’t released.
What to agree on
- What will be worked on in the session and what materials are needed.
- Length, place (home, library, café) and whether it will be repeated.
- That this is help between neighbours, not a language school: nobody promises results or passes.
- If the lesson is for a minor: an adult in the family posts the favour (you must be over 18 to have an account), ticks the box “Involves an older person, a child or a pet…” so that only neighbours with a verified identity can offer, and an adult in the family is present during the lesson.
What to offer
A rough example: an hour of revision or conversation might come to between €10 and €15. You can also pay with another favour. Each neighbour decides what to ask.
This is only a rough example to get the conversation started: each neighbour decides, it’s not a Mutioo rate or a market price, and you two set it. Mutioo Protection is paid by whoever asks: at most 10% of the price (€0.79 on small favours), and less on favours over €25. You see the exact amount before paying. Whoever helps pays no fee: they receive 100% of the price.
Mutioo is an intermediary: it puts neighbours in touch, but it doesn’t do the favours or vouch for anyone’s conduct. The agreement is between whoever asks and whoever helps.
Frequently asked questions
Is it a school? Are the teachers qualified?
No. Mutioo puts neighbours in touch; whoever offers acts as a private individual and Mutioo doesn’t check qualifications. Look at their profile and reviews and ask about their experience before choosing.
Can I swap one lesson for another?
Yes. When you post you choose whether to offer money, a favour in return or both; for example, English lessons for guitar lessons.
Where do the lessons take place?
Wherever you agree: at home, in a library, in a café. If you’re meeting at someone’s home, check their profile and reviews first and trust your judgement.
